How to make text transparent

One would think, what is the use of a transparent text? Tremendous one. It may be challenging to find the right balance between the text logo presence on the commercial/promotion video and the rest of the frame.

The solution is as simple as ABC: make your text transparent. This way text will not overlay video, but will still convey the needed message.

Transparent logos also work well for YouTube shorts, TikTok or Instagram videos, or any other type of visual content if you are working on your brand awareness. The question is — how to make text transparent? With the help of special software, of course.

That’s where Clideo’s Ultimate Video Editor comes in handy. It’s an all-in-one multifunctional tool, which allows creating complex visual projects from scratch. The Editor works online, so compatibility issues are off the table. It’s platform agnostic and as user-friendly as it’s possible with such developed functionality.

Just follow these steps.

  1. Upload your video or create a project

    Open the Video Editor in any browser and hit the "Get started" button to open the editing pane.

    Here, you can create a video project using one of the following options:

    • Upload visuals from your device;
    • Pick them up from the cloud storage accounts;
    • Avail of inbuilt stock video, photo, audio, and elements libraries;
    • Record a shooting right in the tool.

    After that, set the aspect ratio in the "Canvas" tab. You can also rearrange the files as you need in the timeline if you have more than one asset, and edit them as you like after selecting their thumbnails and adjusting the available settings.

  2. Add text overlay to the video

    Click "Text" in the navigation sidebar to the left and select the captions preset. Place it in the chosen place of the frame, adjust its size, and enter the text. Now click the caption to open its settings and change the text opacity in the "Opacity" tab. This will change the opacity of the entire text element.

    If you need a more granular adjustment for the text and text background, you can find more options in the custom color pop-up window. Thus you can modify the text and text background color and opacity separately to create a more artistic effect for your captions.

    A hint! Make sure your caption file is placed at the top timeline track, above all other assets. Otherwise, it will not be visible.

  3. Save the project

    When you are fully done, give the project the final run and make sure you like what you see. Then hit the "Export" button at the top right, choose the output resolution, process your video, and save it where you like.
