How to turn a GIF into a video

GIFs have long been an easy way to show emotions and reactions to anything, which is especially helpful when a text response might seem too "dry". And on platforms like Twitter, using them can even be preferable due to the character limit. However, sometimes a user may want to convert a Twitter GIF to a video.

There may be many reasons to do so, but one of the main advantages is the flexibility of using videos. GIFs can only display colors up to 256, and even if their quality remains the same after conversion, it’s easier to apply changes to a video. Plus, you can add something new to it, for example, an audio track to go with the visuals.

If you want to do something similar and are looking for a GIF-to-video converter, our tool is just what you need! In addition to GIF files, it can also convert BMP, HEIC, JPG, PNG, SVG, TIFF, and WEBP images. The variety of output video formats is also quite large – you can choose MP4, 3GP, ASF, AVI, HEVC, M4V, MKV, MOV, OGV, SWF, TS, VOB, WEBM, WMV, or XVID. And the rest is a piece of cake!

  1. Upload the image

Open Clideo’s Image Converter, then click "Get started".

You can either drag and drop the file from a folder or use the "Choose file" button to upload the GIF.

  2. Convert the GIF into video

You can pick the output format from the drop-down list in the conversion window at the top right. To see all the extensions available, hover over the video icon there.

If you click the gear icon, you can also see the additional settings you can adjust. Apart from the frame rate, there are also audio-related settings, but as there is no sound they won’t affect anything.

After you apply all the needed changes, click "Convert".

  3. Download the video

And there you have it! After the conversion ends, be sure to save the result by clicking "Download" right away, since the file does not go to your projects. When you download it, you can go back to select other conversion settings or convert another image.

This way, you receive the video that you can work on later. However, if you want to convert the GIF and edit the video in one go, just click the conversion window and edit your clip in our online video editor right away.
