How to cut videos for LinkedIn

Clideo’s online tool allows you not only cut a clip for LinkedIn, but also change its format.

This can be done without downloading or installing any third-party apps or potentially dodgy software. That’s because Clideo’s tool works solely in your web browser, whether that’s Chrome, Safari or Firefox, and from any device or platform, such as Windows, Mac, iOS or Android.

We should also mention that it’s free, allowing you to cut videos up to 500MB in size. Here’s how...

  1. Add your clip for LinkedIn

To get started, head over to Clideo’s Video Cutter tool.

Here you'll find a ‘Choose file’ button and a down-arrow on the right. Hit the button to upload the file, or hover over that arrow to open a drop-down menu with options to upload from Google Drive or Dropbox. The tool will automatically begin working it's magic as it uploads it to Clideo’s servers.

  2. Cut the LinkedIn video if needed

If you want to chop the video down in length, start by deciding where you want your video to begin and end using the green sliders.

You can choose where to cut it visually, like this, or you can be more precise and input the specific beginning and endpoints in minutes and seconds via the time stamp boxes.

Once that's done and you're happy with the new length, you can ‘Extract Selected’ or ‘Delete Selected’.

If you select to extract, you’ll be able to add a fade-in and fade-out for a smoother transition effect. Simply tick the boxes. If you choose to delete, you'll instead have the option to crossfade the two remaining parts of the video.

Now you can give your fresh clip a preview by hitting the play button under the preview pane. Happy? If yes, select an output format. You can either keep the original or convert to one of the other supported video formats, such as MP4 (we recommend this for social media).

Once done, just hit the ‘Cut’ button and your video will be ready to download.

  3. Download the LinkedIn video

Once processing is done, you can either save your LinkedIn clip back to your device by tapping the ‘Download’ button, or send it to your online storage account in Dropbox or Google Drive via the down-arrow on the right.

If you’d like to make some changes, such as do some extra chopping, you can do so by tapping the ‘Back to edit’ button. This will take you right back to the editor without needing to start over.
