How to record a video podcast

Many people like to listen to music or podcasts while doing chores or other things. Interestingly, the latter are available not only in audio form — video podcasts are also gaining popularity. And what is a video podcast? It’s very simple — unlike a regular podcast, this format allows viewers to not only listen, but also see the host, guests, and any other visual elements that may spice up the conversation.

Such a format may seem daunting to newbies looking to get started, but the production process is actually not that difficult, especially with modern devices. Now anyone can put together their own video podcast setup if they have good video and audio recording tools, good lighting, and editing software.

The last one is the easiest – if you are looking for a simple and easy-to-use app, our video editor will help you out! It will allow you to quickly create a project and make all the necessary changes to it. In addition, you will also be able to make a podcast video recording right in the editor!

  1. Add files

Open Clideo’s Online Video Editor and click "Get started".

Then click "+" to upload all the needed media files from your device. Alternatively, you can add them from your cloud storage or just drag and drop them onto the page.

If you want to add any graphic elements or look up music suitable for an intro or outro, you can browse the media libraries in the menu on the left pane of the editor. In the "Elements" section, for example, you can find various emojis, GIFs, and other stuff you can use in your video.

And if you want to record something for the podcast, simply choose the suitable option in the "Record" tab.

  2. Edit your podcast video

Firstly, set the correct aspect ratio for your video in the "Canvas" tab, so you have enough space to fit everything you need.

After that, arrange the files on the timeline in the order they should play. If you and your co-host recorded the podcast separately, you can combine both recordings to make them play at the same time. To do so, place them above or below each other in the timeline, then manually drag them in the player to change their position.

When you select one or a group of files either on the timeline or in the player, the options tab will open. There, you can adjust various settings of the chosen file, such as changing colors, adjusting speed and duration, volume, etc.

Want to add some captions? No problem! Simply click any preset in the "Text" tab, then write down whatever you need. Then, click the text box to open the tab where you can customize the font, color, and other aspects of the text.

After you edit every video you want, click "Export" and choose the suitable option.

  3. Download the video

Check the preview to see how your podcast ends up looking. If the result is good, click "Download" to save the video to your device or cloud storage. And if you want to tweak some settings, click "Edit" to go back.
