How to edit subtitles settings online
In most cases, the subtitles that are made for movies are adapted in size and color so that they fit the picture as closely as possible and stand out from its background. However, sometimes you may need to adjust the caption settings for a more comfortable viewing experience.
For example, you want to project a video to the TV screen and wonder how to make subtitles bigger. You can do it by editing an SRT file manually, though you would still need to check how the result looks in the video and then make edits again if you want to change something else. But what if you want to change the subtitle background, color or font in your SRT file as well?
In such a case, we have just a powerful tool for you! It will help you design your subtitles in just a few minutes, plus, you will see any change you make right away. It’s also quite simple to use, just follow the steps below.
Upload a video
Open Clideo’s Subtitle Editor. Then, click "Choose file" to pick a clip from your device or from Google Drive or Dropbox.
After the video is added, click "Upload .SRT" and upload the caption file in the same way.
Edit subtitles
On the next page, you can add or remove subtitles and change the time when they show up if needed.
To change their look, click the "Styles" tab in the right-side pane of the editor. Here, you can change the subtitles position (top or bottom of the video), alignment, their font and its size, and color (both for the text and its background).
Usually, black and white subtitles are the best to read. However, depending on the colors used in the video, you can experiment a bit and choose, for example, red, yellow or blue caption font in the color selection tab. You can also enter the hex code to apply any other color than the presented ones (like #EE7799, which is a lighter shade of the pink in the selection).
When you finish editing, if you only need the subtitles file, click "Download .SRT". To get the video with these subtitles already embedded, click "Export".
Please note that the tool adds hard subtitles only. Hard subtitles are burned in, or hard coded, as an overlay over your video and cannot be turned off or on later in a player.
Download the result
Watch the preview to make sure everything looks fine. Click "Edit" if you need to add some changes, otherwise click "Download" to get the video on your device or cloud storage account.
