How to make fan video edits online

If you are a part of any fan base, you have probably seen a lot of fan edits. Those use a specific way of editing, which is to take screenshots or clips from its source and visually diversify it. For example, adding a song and editing frames together in such a way that it turns out to be a fan-made music video.

If you've been thinking about making fan videos, then you are probably wondering how to get clips of TV shows for edits. It's really easy – you can google them, find fan pages with lots of material, or go to official sources. However, if you want to use a rather long clip, be sure to check the creative license to avoid copyright issues.

  1. Add files

    Open Clideo's Online Video Editor and click "Get started".

    Then click the + icon to import the media files from your device, Google Photos, Google Drive, or Dropbox.

  2. Make a fan edit

    First, make sure the aspect ratio of the video is suitable for the platform where you will post it – for example, for YouTube, it's 16:9. It can be applied in the "Canvas" tab.

    All your files are stored in the "Uploads" tab and you can laos find them in the timeline. If not, just drag the file from "Upload" to the timeline and arrange the photos and clips in the correct order, add audio, and make them match in length. To increase the duration of each image, simply drag the handles on their sides.

    To spice up the video, you can also place GIFs or images on top of the main video – just put them above the clip in the timeline, then manually adjust their position and size in the preview area.

    In the "Text" tab, you can add captions as well by clicking + on any preset or dragging it to the preview or timeline. After that, write the text and edit it according to your needs.

    When you finish editing, click "Export" and choose your preferred export option.

  3. Download the video

    Check the preview to make sure everything looks FANtastic. To apply changes if needed, click "Edit", otherwise, download the result to your device or cloud storage.
