How to transcribe a video online

Nowadays, more and more users create video content on a variety of topics. Many of them are very informative and explore the chosen topic in detail, but the viewer doesn’t always have the time and opportunity to watch such videos in one sitting. In such cases, video transcription comes to help.

Video transcripts are the conversion of video to text, and they make content more accessible and usable by giving another way to learn information from it. There are many video transcript generators that recognize speech and convert it to text quite accurately, although it is worth looking over the transcript carefully in case of small errors.

  2. Create transcript from video

After the video is uploaded, click "Auto subtitles".

Then, select the language used in the video, leave the second box as "Do not translate" and click "Generate".

The tool will generate text based on the speech in the video, and after that, you can skim through the result to see if there are any mistakes and fix them.

  3. Download the transcript

To save the generated text, simply click "↓ TXT" in the right-side pane. If needed, you can also use the "Translate" function to make the text more accessible for others and download it as well.

If you want to, you can also save the video with the subtitles embedded by clicking "Export". After that, watch the preview to see if the subtitles are in the right places and everything looks right. If there’s something to correct, click "Edit" to return to the editor. Otherwise, save the video to your device or cloud storage.
