How to create a video card with shapes online

Many videos can use geometric shapes to create interesting and eye-catching effects. For example, one can make animations for titles, scene transitions, as well as abstract compositions with circle overlays and even illustrations to explain concepts. Shapes are a simple tool and the way of using them depends only on the imagination of the creator.

But adding shapes can also be used for simple tasks, such as creating a video card. This can range from a sincere and inspiring card with a video that means something special and words of encouragement, to humorous banter to brighten up the recipient’s day and make them smile.

Whatever the idea, if you are looking for a shape editor to create such a video, our online tool will help you with this. This is an editor in which you can modify an existing video and add shapes to them as a background for text or as part of an overall picture. And you can do all this simply and right in your browser!

  1. Add a video

Open Clideo’s Online Video Editor and click "Get started".

Click "+" to add the video you want to edit from your device, or choose a cloud storage account where it’s located. You can also scroll through built-in libraries to see if there are media files that will suit your idea.

  2. Add shapes and edit them

To move the video to one part of the overall frame, select it in the player and manually change its size and position. Then, to add shapes, open the "Elements" tab on the left, choose the shape you need, e.g. rectangular background for text, and position it using the same method.

To adjust other settings, select any file on the timeline or in the player and the options tab will appear. Video settings include cropping and rotating options, changing hue, speed, etc. As for shapes, you can select one of solid or gradient colors available or apply a custom one. In the case of the latter, you can also adjust the opacity of the color and direction of the gradient if you use one.

To add text, click any preset from the "Text" tab, write everything you need, and then customize the font, color, size, etc. Decorate with other elements — stickers, GIFs, emojis, etc.

When you finish editing, click "Export" at the top right and choose your preferred option.

  3. Download the video

After the video is processed, you can watch the preview to see how the final result looks like. If you like it, click "Download" to save it back to your device or cloud storage.
