How to create a vignette effect for your video online

Overall, a vignette is a frame "embracing" a picture. It may be fancy or simple, colored or black-and-white; everything depends on the platform or tool you use.

In our case, a vignette obscures the frame's edges to focus the viewer's attention in the center. To achieve a vignette effect, you may use special lenses while shooting, but there is also an easier way: one of the multiple Clideo video service tools.

All of them work online, so you can use them from any device, including a phone. They are totally free without any limits for files up to 500 MB each.

We've tried to design our tools to be extremely user-friendly and self-evident, so you can easily cope with them without any additional manuals. But just in case you need one, here it goes.

  1. Upload a video to the tool

Open Clideo’s Adjust Video tool in any browser. Hit the "Choose file" button and pick up a video from your phone library. Alternatively, call the drop-down menu and import a file from Google Drive or Dropbox.

  2. Put a vignette on the video

Find several sliders below the player. The last one is responsible for the vignette. Move it to the right to find the pattern you like most, and that's it!

You can also adjust some other video settings:

    • Brightness
    • Contrast
    • Saturation
    • Hue
    • Fade

Try different combinations to get the image you want.

When you're done, select the output format. MP4 and MOV are the most popular, as they are compatible with most platforms and tools, but you can choose any other if you need.

Finally, tap the "Export" button and let the tool do its job.

  3. Download the project

All you need to do now is to save the renewed video to your phone or cloud storage accounts. If you're annoyed with a tiny watermark, upgrade your account to Clideo Pro and enjoy even more perks and benefits!
