How to make a BookTok video

If you're serious about becoming a BookTok celebrity, it's not enough just to record some average videos from time to time. You should be one of the best, and your videos must go viral. You can turn your passion for reading into cash only when your account has at least 10 000 followers and your videos gain 100 000 monthly views.

There are two essential points to consider. The first one is the content of your posts.

Booktok video ideas and tips:

  • Find your niche. There are tons of book reviews on social media, and yours will be buried under them. Enter the segment with lower competition.

For example, BookTokers are really into Young Adult fiction, so it may be challenging to squeeze into this community right away. But what if you set up a vlog about French Young Adult literature? Or novels that were written exclusively in 2000?

Just keep in mind, your "specialization" shouldn't be too narrow; you're still interested in followers, right?

  • Encourage your audience to start discussions. Ask questions, choose controversial topics, and compare different points of view.
  • Be inspirational for your followers. Let your account be an island of serenity and happiness for them. Make book readers feel better after watching your videos.

The second point — technical. Your videos should be creative, picturesque, and impeccable. And here are two possible solutions.

  • Inbuilt TikTok editors. Let's be honest and admit it: TikTok has great editing tools! But maybe… a little bit too great. They have so many functions that sometimes it's difficult to master them without manuals. Also, it's not a single tool but rather a bunch of services: for an app, for a browser version, for business accounts, for regular users…
  • Other video editing services, for example, Clideo. First of all, it has a whole set of mini "video editing tools", each of which is responsible for one simple editing action: cutting, cropping, adding captions, changing color scheme, rotating, etc.

If you prefer to work on your project "in one piece", then you'll become friends with Clideo's ultimate all-in-one video editor. It works in a browser, so it's the same service and interface for all the systems, devices, and accounts. Also, it's intuitively comprehensive.

Just follow the basic steps.

  1. Upload your video to the tool

Open Clideo's Video Editor in any browser and hit the "Get started" button.

Then click or tap the "Upload" button and import your file from a device, Google Drive, Google Photos, or Dropbox.

A hint! If you record your posts with the help of a mobile phone, you most likely shoot them with audio as one piece. For better quality, it's worth taking some extra effort and recording a voice-over separately. Then just upload an audio file to the Editor along with the video.

  2. Edit your recording

If your assets are not automatically transferred to the timeline below the player, do it manually. Arrange them as you need.

Take your time trying different functions out. If you feel you need some help, you can avail of our short and precise manuals, but practice is the best teacher. Don't worry about possible faults: you can always undo the last action, just hit the left-faced arrow above the player.

In the "Canvas" section, you can change the aspect ratio of the whole project. In the "Text" tab, you can add and edit captions. Don't forget to look through the font library in the "search" field!

Select a file to open its editing pane and see what else you can change and improve.

  3. Save the project

This part is quite obvious, just a little hint: if you want to save your video with a better resolution, consider updating your account to Clideo Pro. It will also erase our watermark from your recordings.

Then hit the "Export" button, select the quality, and let the tool do its job. When you're done and happy, give the project the final run and save it where you want: your device or cloud storage account.
