How to separate sound from video
Sometimes, we have to assemble a project out of spare parts: video, audio, and subtitles. And sometimes, we need to dismantle it to reuse its "ingredients" in other projects. Clideo has two tools that can help you with this task.
Whichever you choose, all Clideo tools work online, so they are fully compatible with all device types, be it an iPhone or a laptop with Linux OS. You may upload files up to 500 MB for free and avail of the full tool's functionality even if you don't want to sign up or upgrade your account to Clideo Pro subscription.
Our interface is user-friendly, and you don't have to read lengthy manuals to sort out how the tool works. But in case you need some instructions, here they are.
Extract audio in Video Editor
We'd recommend you use the ultimate Video Editor if you want to take the sound of videos and reuse it right away in a new project. You may add or delete files, reuse the existing ones, rearrange them in any way you need, and create quite a sophisticated video.
Upload the project to the tool
Open the all-in-one Video Editor and hit the "Get started" button.
Now, you can import your recording from your device, Google Drive, Google Photos, or Dropbox. The file will be automatically placed on the timeline below the player.
Extract the audio
Click the file to make it active and open its editing pane, go to the "Audio" tab, and hit the "Extract audio" option. The track will appear on the timeline as a separate file.
Edit and save the project
If you don't need the video part, just delete the corresponding element from the timeline and keep the soundtrack only. Edit the track as you need: cut it, adjust its volume, add "fade in" and "fade out" effects.
Then, you can combine the extracted audio with other visuals, including ones from our free stock libraries.
When you're done, hit the "Export" button, and when the file is processed, save it to the chosen location.
Extract sound in Audio Cutter
If you need a sound separator to detach a soundtrack, for example, from some YouTube video you downloaded, you'd better use our Audio Cutter.
Upload your video to the tool
Open Cut Audio in any browser. Hit the "Choose file" button and import a video from your device. Alternatively, call the drop-down menu and pick up a recording from Google Drive, Google Photos, or Dropbox.
Edit the track
The sound will be extracted automatically. Now, you can cut it or just leave it as it is. Just move the yellow handles at the start and end points of the track. Make sure there is an indentation of at least 0.11 seconds on any end. Otherwise, the "Export" button will be inactive.
Don't forget to choose the output format before saving the track. When you're done, hit "Export" and let the tool do its job.
Save the audio
Download the extracted audio to your device or cloud storage account.
