What are Instagram Story size dimensions
When creating Instagram Stories, the main rule is to use the right proportions. The perfect Instagram Story video dimensions are 1080px by 1920px, it’s 9:16 aspect ratio. Since the social network is more focused on smartphones, you’ll have no trouble posting photos or videos that were shot on them.
However, if you shoot with a camera, you will have to check if they meet the requirements, otherwise the system will crop the image and it won’t look as good as you wanted. But what if you want to post a photo or video without having to crop it? Fortunately, it can easily be done – just use our online service to resize it before posting!
The process is simple and can be done in a few clicks, just follow the steps below.
Upload a file
Open Clideo’s Online Resizer. To add a file directly from your device, click the “Choose file” button. If you want to upload it from your cloud storage, hover over the arrow on the right side of the button and choose a Google Drive or Dropbox option.
Resize for social media
In editor, you can see the “Resize for” option on the right side – it allows you to choose the presets for all possible post and ad types on different social networks. Pick the platform in the first tab (Instagram, Facebook or others), and the aspect ratio out of every type of post within that platform in the second one.
If you want to manually set the aspect ratio, choose “Custom” and “Not set” in the first and the second tabs respectively, then write down size dimensions in the boxes under them.
Below, there are “Crop options”. “Fill” will crop the image to fill the whole frame. “Fit”, on the other hand, allows you to fit the whole video within the aspect ratio you chose by adding borders — it is useful if you’re posting a horizontal video and don’t want to cut out any part of it.
You can change the background color – click on the bucket fill button and choose either the Blur option or any color available. You can also write down a hex code if you want to use a custom color.
Zoom in and out or adjust the position of the pic or video using buttons with magnifying glass and an arrow cross.
Lastly, specify format for the output file in the option below the player. It will allow you to only choose formats that are supported by the social medium of the preset you picked. If you use custom dimensions, you’ll be able to choose formats among more than 20 different ones.
When you’re done with editing, click the “Export” button.
Download the resized file
If you’ve edited the video, watch its preview to make sure it looks just as you wanted. If everything is fine, click the “Download” button to save your file on your device or upload it to Google Drive or Dropbox.
If you want to add some changes, click on the “Edit” button to return to the previous step. All the editing you’ve done so far will be saved.
