How to translate a podcast to text in another language

Podcasts are new books: in contrast with the written word, you can listen to a podcast while commuting, performing your daily chores, or just snoozing. Demand is high, but the offer is no worse: one can find audio channels about everything, from cooking recipes to dead languages or ancient cultures.

Some specific topics may be presented in foreign languages only, and just several years ago, this would have made them unavailable to the mainstream audience. But not today!

With the help of podcast translators, you can not only translate any podcast to a text document but also create a voiceover in a foreign language. The task may seem challenging, but it takes just several clicks.

Clideo's service works in a browser, so you don't have to bother yourself with compatibility issues and software updates. The tool takes inputs in various formats, including the least widespread, and you can avail of it for free.

User interface and navigation are self-evident, but if you prefer to have everything neat and tidy, here is a comprehensive manual.

  1. Upload an audio

Open Clideo's Audio Translator in any browser and hit the "Choose file" button to import a recording from your local device. Alternatively, select a file from cloud storage accounts by calling the drop-down menu. Make sure your file has just one language spoken, as it will be easier for a translator to recognize it.

  2. Translate the podcast

As soon as you are transferred to the next screen, set up the original language and the translation language. This way, you can get, for example, an English podcast translated into Spanish or vice versa.

    Select languages to translate podcast

Click "Start Translation" and give the tool several minutes to extract and interpret the content. At the next screen, revise the generated subtitles and correct them if needed. If you're going to save them as a video file with a black screen, you can also spruce their style in the "Styles" tab at the top right: change the font, color, alignment, etc.

You can also translate the text into another language using the "Translate" button.

  3. Save the translation

If you need a text file only, download it in TXT or SRT formats.

If you need a "full-blooded" translated voiceover, hit the gear icon next to the "Export video" button and make sure the "Change speech" toggle is on. Choose the AI speaker and export the recording.

The output will be a video file with or without embedded subtitles, depending on your previous choice. If you want to get "pure" audio, you can later extract it with the help of our free Audio Cutter.
