What is a webcam test
Nowadays, the lion’s share of business and social activities are held online: business meetings, conferences, lessons, and even dates. In such circumstances, the video and sound quality are essential, as camera issues can ruin the best presentation ever.
Before joining or throwing an important event, you’d better do a webcam test, to make sure that your meeting will pass smoothly. Depending on your device, you can run a video test without any additional devices or software, right in the settings of your device. Also, some meeting platforms have special test rooms, where you can check your web camera without involving other people and test video calls to a friend.
But if you don’t feel like sorting out lengthy manuals and looking for settings, you can quickly check your camera online, with the help of our free tool. It will take no more than a couple of minutes, and you don’t have to install or set up anything. The service works online, so it is compatible with all the operating systems and device types.
Here is a short manual on how to run a camera test online:
Open the webcam test tool
Go to the Camera Test tool in any browser and click the "Get started" button.
When prompted to the main pane, hit the "Record" icon on the left toolbar or the red circle in the "Media" box and select the "Camera" tile. If prompted, allow the service to access your cam.
Run the webcam test
If you want to test several cameras, hit the gear icon below the screen and choose the device you need. If you see yourself in the "webcam mirror", your web camera is working.
If you want to assess your appearance and voice, feel free to record yourself as well. For this, click the big red circle to start recording and, when you’re done, hit the same spot to stop recording.
If the service fails to detect your camera, or you experience any other technical issues, you may need to perform more in-depth troubleshooting.
If you have several cameras to test, click the "Retake" button and choose another webcam.
