How to convert audio to text online
Subtitles are an essential part of almost every video: not only do they make the content more accessible, as not every situation and location allows turning the sound on, but also provide additional information and may serve for educational purposes. The transcript itself, as a separate file, would also come in handy. For example, you can read it at your own pace when you have time or quickly find the information you’re looking for.
If only there were an audio-to-text converter, which could turn MP3 or another audio format to text without much fuss and, installing, setting up, and reading lengthy manuals… Oh, wait a minute. There is one :)
Clideo’s transcript generator works online, in a browser, hence it’s compatible with all device types. It accepts various inputs: AAC, FLAC, M4A, M4B, M4R, MP3, OGG, OPUS, WAV, WMA, and a variety of other formats.
The tool is free to use, though Clideo Pro subscribers avail of a set of privileges. The interface is user-free and intuitively comprehensive, but if you need a short guide, here is a manual on how to transcribe audio to text in several steps.
Import an audio file to the tool
Open the Audio to Text tool in any browser and click the "Choose file" button to upload an audio asset from your device. Alternatively, call the drop-down menu to import a file from cloud storage accounts.
Convert audio to text
Set up the original language and make sure you select the correct region option if this is applicable. After that, click "Start Transcription" and let the tool do its job.
Edit audio transcription
Revise the captions if they are accurate and correct them if needed. If you need a separate customized SRT file, edit the subtitles’ font, alignment, color, and other characteristics in the "Styles" tab.
Save the text file
When you are done, you can save the transcript either in TXT or SRT formats. Click the needed option and download the file to your device.
