How long is a video on Instagram
It depends on the post type.
- IGTV allows posting clips up to 10 minutes long. The minimum length in this case will be 15 seconds.
- How long can an Instagram Story video be? No longer than 15 seconds each. This rule works also for Story Ads.
- Regular in-feed posts or organic ads may contain recordings from 3 to 60 seconds long, but you can use the Carousel feature to combine several short visuals into one lengthy clip.
To learn not only how long a video can be on Instagram but also other social media specs, take a look at the article.
If your video is shorter than needed, you can loop it to make it long enough. But what if your freshly-shot visual is longer than it’s allowed? You can cut it before posting with the help of Clideo’s free tool.
One of its main advantages is that it works online, so you can use it in any browser and on any device instead of time- and memory-consuming app downloading.
Just get sure that your Internet connection is stable and follow three simple steps.
Select a video to cut
If you want to edit a shooting from your phone’s library, PC or Mac folder, just click on a big blue button in the centre of the Video Cutter’s homepage and select the file you need.
If you prefer to use a visual stored in cloud storage, hit the downward arrow on the right side of the pane and choose to import a file from Google Drive or Dropbox.
Make it short enough for Instagram
Tick “Extract selected” and choose the needed snippet by moving sliders or setting the timing manually in the boxes. Tick “Fade in” and “Fade out” boxes to make the visual appear and disappear gradually.
Alternatively, hit “Delete selected” to erase the chosen snippet and merge the rest of the shooting. Tick “Crossfade” to make frames transition smooth and seamless.
Choose an output format. MP4 is the best option for Instagram and other social media.
When you are done, click on “Cut”.
Download the cut video
Save the clip to your personal device or cloud storage account and then share it on Instagram. If the final check revealed any imperfections, simply click on “Back to edit” to improve the result.
